'Queer Joy' is a new, window mural celebrating queer visibility by artist Sophie Kathleen to mark LGBTQ+ History Month across February 2022 at G Live in Guildford. In collaboration with local charity Blossom LGBT and Arts Organisation 'Art in Practice', Sophie worked with 20+ young adults from across Surrey during 2021 and 2022, hosting a series of creative workshops exploring issues of identity, visibility, LGBTQ+ history and liberation.
Queer Joy celebrates the local LGBTQ+ community in Surrey, providing a platform for young people to express themselves and highlight their individual identities. The artwork focuses on many of the issues faced by queer people today; how community matters, especially in light of the pandemic and how their voices deserve to be heard.

mural raising awareness for ocean pollution
This hand painted mural was inspired by my time spent learning to be a conservation diver in Thailand back in2018. During the worldwide lockdowns in the summer of 2020 I decided to create this piece in my bedroom to spark conversation and awareness of ocean pollution. I then created prints of the painting and continue to donate profits to the Non Profit Organisation 'Conservation Diver'. You can view the prints here.
